For the first time since the Second World War, the Spectator Cup will not be handed out. Due to the affects of COVID-19, the Hamilton Soccer board has made the decision to cancel the tournament. With only a few months of summer remaining and Phase Two still in place, the tournament simply couldn’t be executed.
This isn’t the first time the tournament has been called off. The trophy saw cancellations during the First and Second World Wars.
Plans are already in place to ensure the tournament returns next year bigger and better.
We would also like to encourage everyone to continue following the guidelines set out by the government and Canada Soccer to keep everyone safe and stay in line with our return to play models.
A big thank you is extended to all front line workers in our community who work everyday to ensure we all remain safe and healthy.
